She is committed to expanding reproductive rights in Texas by fighting to repeal the state's anti-abortion laws and working to ensure access to affordable and comprehensive reproductive healthcare for all. As a woman who has used reproductive healthcare services, she understands the importance of having access to safe and legal abortion, contraception, and other reproductive care. Alvarez is also acutely aware that marginalized Black and brown communities are disproportionately affected by restrictions on reproductive rights. If elected, she will fight to protect the right to abortion and ensure access to reproductive healthcare for all Texans.
Gun Violence Prevention
Catherine Alvarez understands the devastating effects gun violence has had on Texas communities, and she is committed to taking action to prevent further tragedies. She believes that comprehensive gun violence prevention measures are necessary to keep families safe, and she will work tirelessly to pass legislation that will reduce gun violence and save lives. Alvarez will fight for universal background checks, a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, and increased funding for mental health services. She will also support legislation that would close loopholes that allow dangerous people to obtain firearms, and she will work to ensure that our schools and communities are safe from gun violence.
